So you have done a great job on your profile and are starting to add potential matches to your favourites list. Is our proprietary two way matching system showing you too many matches or too few? Today we cover some tips on how to help our matching engine find matches that really work for you and that are what you are looking for.
About you and your ideal match:
The key to finding matches that tick all or most of your boxes, is for you to tick boxes and provide as much detail as possible in the About Me and My Ideal Match sections of your profile.
The About Me page helps us match you with what other people are looking for, while completing the My Ideal Match page will help our matching engine find people that match with what you’re looking for.
The importance of the importance level:
Let us help you to decide based on your preset requirement and the strength of those preferences. The importance level you assign to each question on the My Ideal Match page will help us rank your best matches above those that don’t quite meet what you’re looking for. They will still be ranked, but lower down, making it possible for your ideal match to be higher up the list.
For example, if smoke gets up your nose, then by all means make your selection of ‘non-smoker‘ non-negotiable to avoid getting people who smoke as a match. This will prevent and embarrassing or uncomfortable situations you might want to get out of in future communications.
Too picky or too many non negotiables?:
We all have our likes and dislikes, but being too picky may result in fewer matches and at the same time, you may not come across as a very nice person.
For example, if your ideal match is a blonde Sagitarius female (or male) aged 25 living in Kathmandu and the importance level for all of these are set to ‘non-negotiable’, then chances are you’ll come up empty handed. However, it might also trim your search down to the exact one, so play around with the settings till you are comfortable.
Or, too easy going and open minded and not picky enough?:
Be careful not to select too many ‘Ask me later’ options on the About Me or too many ‘Any’ options on the My Ideal Match questions. Not setting any importance on any option will also feel like you’re keeping your options open and will certainly get you more matches, but chances are they won’t be well-suited matches. However if have the time to trawl through them all t find that perfect match with the right stuff, go for it!
The happy balance:
The trick is finding a happy, yet practical balance without compromising your ideals.
Play with your ideal match settings, and have a look at the number of matches you find in My Matches. If you have too many to choose from, tighten things up a bit, or loosen up your criteria if you have too few and adjust your importance level for each option accordingly.
